Dating from 1701, the Dukes Head is on the southbound carriageway of the A24. A small tiled entrance hall at the front leads to bars to the left and right. The right hand one, which also has access to the car park, has parquet flooring and a wood burning stove. The left hand bar is the main one, and has tile flooring and a large inglenook in which there is a large wood burning stove. Each bar is divided into separate areas making this a cosy place to visit. Two guest ales are sold, one is usually a beer from Hogs Back. Both beers change regularly and there are plans to install a fourth handpump to allow local beers to be sold. There are one or two beer festivals held each year - check the website for details.
